TRADE PROMOTIONS
WHAT ARE THEY AND HOW DO THEY WORK
What is a Trade Promotion - is it the same as a raffle?
The short answer is no!
A raffle is a fundraising opportunity often run by non-profit organisations where participants buy tickets for a chance to win a prize and are usually regulated as a lottery. In Victoria (our home State), raffles can only be run if funds are raised for a declared community or charitable organisation.
A Trade Promotion is a marketing tool to promote a business, its products or services and to increase brand awareness. In our case, you are purchasing a package which includes the opportunity to have a 15 minute one-on-one, no obligation, LEGO retirement consult, priority access to pre-orders and sales for the qualifying period at The Brick Store and this gives you free entry into the specific promoted giveaway.
Why are some States exempt from entering certain giveaways?
All Australian States and Territories are governed by different laws. Some States require permits whereas others don’t and all T&Cs need to comply with local laws. Because our Trade Promotions are nationwide we have to obey ALL States rules. If the total prize pool exceeds a certain amount then a permit is required or that particular State cannot enter. Below is a list of permit triggers for Australian States/Territories (this list can change at any time):
ACT: Permit required if total prize pool exceeds $3000
SA & NT: Permit required if total prize pool exceeds $5000
NSW: Permit required if total prize pool exceeds $10,000
QLD, VIC, WA, TAS: No permit required but T&Cs must comply with local laws.
How do I enter The Brick Store Trade Promotions?
All of our promotions are listed on our webpage and advertised on our Facebook page. Generally we try to run one each week. Some promotions are so popular they sell out within minutes so sometimes we may do a round 2 or even 3. All entries have an opening and closing date and time and are strictly bound by their T&Cs. Entries are purchased through our secure webpage only and then you are given a number once the promotion has closed, usually on the day of the live giveaway on our Facebook page.
Do I need to read the T&Cs?
Each Trade Promotion has its own set of Terms and Conditions (T&Cs). All details can be found here and are legally bound. By purchasing a package you are agreeing to these T&Cs so we highly recommend that you do read them before completing your purchase.
When and how do you announce the winners?
The date and time for each giveaway can be found on the T&Cs. The live video is via The Brick Store Facebook page using JPs much loved scrabble tokens. This is an interactive event each week packed full of LEGO® talk, various random topics, a great chance to ask questions and of course the drawing of winners. Afterwards, all winners are listed on the Facebook page and our website. You can see a list of previous Trade Promotions and Winners here.
Why do some promotions have limits on how many I can purchase?
Because we at The Brick Store believe in fairness and this allows everyone a fair chance to enter.
If the promotion is capped at 2 per person, do I have to buy two in one order or can I buy two separate packages?
This is completely personal choice if you want to purchase up to the maximum quantity. You can purchase two packages in one order (in which case you will have consecutive entry numbers) or you can order one package in two separate transactions (this means you won’t have two consecutive entry numbers).
Please note: some giveaways sell out very fast, so if you choose to purchase two separate packages, availability cannot be guaranteed. This applies to all capped maximum numbers.
How are the entry numbers decided?
We run a report at the end of each promotion period or when a giveaway sells out (whichever comes first) and each person’s entry number is based on the timestamp of their order.
Are all promotions capped at a certain number?
Yes, we cap all of our promotions dependent on the total prize pool so you will always know what your chances are. This is stated in our T&Cs because we believe in transparency.
Can I purchase more than the limited number of entries?
No, please don’t do this. We put limits for a reason and this allows everyone a fair chance. If you purchase extra by accident, please get in touch with us right away.
If there is a second round of a Trade Promotion and I purchased in Round 1, am I allowed to purchase in Round 2?
Yes you can! A whole new set of T&Cs are created specific to each promotion and Round 2’s are no different. It has the same prize/s but is a whole new promotion.
Do I get to pick my prize if my name is drawn?
Our Trade Promotions are based on the traditional numbering system. First drawn gets first prize, second drawn gets second prize and so on dependent on the number of prizes on offer.
